A Buddy Walk participant models their Buddy Crown creation!
The Puget Sound Buddy Walk was held on Sunday October 4, 2009. Buddy Walk takes place at the Seattle Center with activities located on the Fisher Pavilion. VSA arts of WA has participated in Buddy Walk for a number of years; their mission to increase awareness and highlight the abilities of everyone, provides a wonderful opportunity for our organization to host an arts activity booth.
This year we helped to create approximately 100 Buddy Crowns with children, parents, and siblings that all joined in for the 1 mile walk around the Seattle Center grounds. It was wonderful to see the smiles light up as the creators placed their crowns proudly on their heads. Not only was everyone able to participate in a fun, accessible art activity, but also they were able to hold their heads high while they walked to advocate for awareness and inclusion.
Creative Activities/VSA arts of Washington would like to thank the three wonderful ladies that volunteered to help assist in the creation of the many Buddy Crowns. With their help the booth was a success! Thank you, Ladies, and thank you to the organizers of the Puget Sound Buddy Walk for including us in this wonderful event.
