Creative Activities and VSA arts of WA celebrated the winning artists in the 2009/10 No Boundaries Exhibit, “Transcendence” at a Reception and Awards Ceremony at the Harrison Street Gallery in the Seattle Center House, on Thursday, November 19th.  Guests included two of the judges and many of the artists and their families.

Good food and soft classical music set a background for viewing the amazing entries in this year’s show, hanging in the Center House’s Harrison Street Gallery until November 23rd, before moving on to another venue on Capitol Hill in Seattle. This juried show produced 4 award winners and 3 honorable mentions.  Works in several different visual arts media were showcased.

The Cover Art Award went to Jessica Thompson, for her print “Bristlecone Pine Tree“.  Her work was chosen as the Exhibit’s overall image and graces the cover of the Show Brochure and all marketing materials.  First Place went to Jessica Geiger, for her textural work “Daryl“; Second Place was awarded to Donald Skinner for his evocative piece, “Dream of Love“; Third Place winner Brian Taylor’s “EWFW” showed energy and texture.  Honorable Mentions went to:  Debra Adair for “Matterhorn”; John “de delta” Gresli, Jr. for “Sail Raft”; and Russell Martin for “Totem Pole”.

No Boundaries exhibits have toured the northwest region since 1991.  The intent of this program is to create opportunities and to launch or expand careers for artists with disabilities.  This exhibit not only serves the participants, it also provides an enriching arts experience to its audience.  If your organization or business would like to host an upcoming No Boundaries exhibit, please contact us at:  Programs@creativeactivities.org  206.521.6151

I just wanted to say, “Good Job, again!!” to all of the Creative Activities and VSA staff. Thank you so much for all of your efforts in opening new venues for all of the artists, myself included.
Happy Holidays, to you and your families!
